DaY FOUR: SELF-REFLECTION
Welcome to Day Four of the “Hookups & Heartaches” Journey!
We are officially halfway through the album - what do you think so far? Any early favorites taking the lead?
If you missed the DAY THREE content, you check it out HERE.
Day Four of our Journey through the human experience focuses on the theme of SELF-REFLECTION.
This is a big one for me - if I’m not planning 10 steps ahead, I’m analyzing every choice I’ve ever made and wondering if I’m making good choices or sabotaging myself along the way.
Today’s songs are two of the OLDEST songs in my catalogue that I still play. ROSES was the song that gave me confidence to make the move to Nashville and become a full-time songwriter, and I wrote WAR WITH MYSELF way back in 2013.
Please enjoy today’s songs…

EXTRAS
Check out the early worktape versions of the songs from when I first wrote them…I always enjoy hearing the very first version of a song compared to the final version…
I put out a fully produced version of ROSES shortly after moving to Nashville, and I put out a version of WAR WITH MYSELF on the 2018 Matt Burke Band EP. I’ve included both versions below…
Two good videos for you today:
The first is a performance video of ROSES Danielle and I did a month of two back in the middle of winter here in Nashville.
The second is a video of a very nervous Matt Burke performing War With Myself at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN back in 2019.
Enjoy!
